Eugene Zhang is the General Partner and founding member of TEEC Angel Fund. In summer 2010, Eugene co-founded TEEC Angel Fund, a Silicon Valley based super angel fund investing in both US and China startups. He also serves as the Board Member of TEEC (Tsinghua Entrepreneur & Executive Club). TEEC was founded by Tsinghua alumni entrepreneurs in 2001. TEEC promotes technology innovation and entrepreneurship in high tech industries.
Prior to TEEC Angel Fund, Eugene was the founder and CEO of Innospring, a global cross border technology startup incubator in Silicon Valley from its inception to January 2014. Additionally, Eugene founded JEDA Technologies, Inc., in December 2002 and served as President and CEO. JEDA specializes in next-generation SoC design methodologies and provides ESL (electronic system level) verification automation products for leading edge SoC design companies worldwide.
Eugene has been working in the networking and computer industry for 13 years in technical and management positions. Prior to founding JEDA, he was with Juniper Networks from its start where he contributed greatly to the success of many complex ASICs for Internet backbone routers. Prior to joining Juniper, Eugene was with Cisco Systems as an ASIC design verification engineer. From 1993 to 1995 while Eugene worked on the Sunfire SMP server project at SUN Microsystems, he co-invented industry’s first hardware Testbench language Vera, which is a part of today’s industry standard SystemVerilog (IEEE 1880).
Eugene holds his M.S.C.E from Syracuse University, and a M.S.E.E and B.S.E.E from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Chun Xia is the General Partner and founding member of TEEC Angel Fund. Located in Silicon Valley, USA, TEEC Angel Fund provides seed funding to startups in mobile Internet, software, semiconductors, communication/networking, medical devices, clean tech etc.
Concurrent to his role at TEEC Angel Fund, Chun is the founder and CEO of Mash5 Technologies, a company that focuses social mobile cloud on IoE for smart devices. Mash5 is dedicated to help enterprises improve experience, reduce cost and transform business by consolidating technologies, products and operations. It is headquartered in Silicon Valley and with operations in Beijing and Suzhou.
From 2000 to 2001, Chun was President and CTO of Thinkmart, which offers web marketing solutions for small to medium intellectual service providers, including legal, accounting, design, and other 20 sectors. In addition, Chun was the co-founder and CTO of brightinfo.com from 1998 to 2000, a company that was the leader in e-merchandising management for B2C online retailers.
Having been a serial entrepreneur himself in the technological sectors, Chun specializes in Internet of Everything, enterprise software, cloud computing, mobile Internet, China market and operations, investment community and government relations.
Chun receives his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, and a B.Eng. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Michael Jin is a Managing Partner who serves as the BioMed Group Lead at TEEC Angel Fund. Michael leads the analysis and execution of investment in startups in both US and China with focus on biomedicine, semiconductor, and clean-tech.
Michael was the Vice President of Engineering & General Manager of China Technology Center at iWatt (acquired by Dialog Semiconductor at $345M in 2013) since 2006 after it merged with Simple Silicon that he co-founded in 2000. He is currently serving as Board Directors in 7 high-tech startups.
Michael holds Ph.D./M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, California and B.Eng./M.Eng. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Biao serves as a venture partner at TEEC Angel Fund. He is a medical diagnostic expert with the research direction mainly on new methods of gene detection and treatments of human cancers.
Biao is co-founder and CTO of Beijing ACCB Biotech Ltd since 2004. The company is committed to the implementation of modern molecular biology technology research and the development of new cancer detection technologies and methods. It also pioneered and promoted the concept of “personalized cancer treatment” in China.
In addition, Biao is currently an associate professor of Surgery and Cancer Research Center at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Biao holds his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from University of Virginia and his bachelor and master degrees in Biology from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Wenxiang Ma is a venture partner of TEEC Angel Fund who specializes in enterprise software. Concurrent to his role at TEEC Angel Fund, Wenxiang serves as executive vice president of Engineering and Operations at Arena Solutions, with responsibilities include product development, QA, engineering operations and customer support.
Wenxiang holds his Master degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University and his B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Richard Liu serves as a venture partner at TEEC Angel Fund. His expertise includes Commerce and Mobile. Richard is currently an Engineering Director at Google. In his six years in Google, he has played key leadership role in Google Shopping and Google Offers. He is currently leading a key initiative in Android. Prior to Google, Richard held technical leadership role in Oracle Retail and Target and gained rich experience in Retail and Commerce. Prior to that, he worked for Verizon and IBM China.
Richard obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Florida and MBA from Southern Methodist University. He earned his Master degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing and B.E. degree from Sichuan University, Chengdu.
Hong is Engineering Director at Facebook, in charge of Newsfeed Ads. He joined Facebook in 2009, and started developing Newsfeed Ads in 2011 Q4.
In as short as 3 years, he successfully grew Newsfeed Ads revenue from 0 to over $30M/day, which became the most significant component of Faceboook revenue. At the same time, he grew Newsfeed Ads team from single-engineer to 50.
Before facebook, Hong worked at Google, where he focused on ads technology.
Hong received Computer Science Master degree from Yale University, and Computer Science and Technology Bachelor degree from Tsinghua University.
Weiying is the Operation Partner at TEEC Angel Fund. She specializes in product designing, marketing, management and strategic partnerships. Also she instructs and supports startups with a focus in semiconductors and healthcare.
Besides her role at TEEC, Weiying is a senior manager of product design and development at Altera for over 17 years.
Weiying holds her MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School, M.S.E.E degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, and her B.S. degree in Electronic, Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
